CCPS x Skills USA

CCPS teamed up with Skills USA Computer Programming students of Paso Robles High School, CA for an open house. The aim was to show students real-life applications of the programming languages they’re learning and get a sense of what a working programmer’s job entails. It was an incredible day!

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. They provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms. Paso Robles High School near our Headquarters (HQ) hosts a myriad of offerings through the Skills USA program.

Our day started with a round of fun icebreakers where CCPS team members led small groups of students through some questions so we could all get to know each other. From this activity, our CEO Mike Brady led the students through the nuts and bolts of what we do at CCPS and how technology and specifically computer programming come into play.

Our technology consultant Richard Littlefield got the room excited when he began to map out all of the technology applications we use. From Alexa Skills to basic Javascript code on our backend. Code jokes abounded and the students got an excellent glimpse into real-life applications of the languages they're currently learning.

One of the most rewarding parts of the day was getting a chance to see what kinds of programs the students are working on. From complex games to websites, the students shared their projects and we were absolutely blown away by the level of skill and enthusiasm.

As we continue to grow our company, we look forward to partnering with SkillsUSA to employ and encourage the next generation of our technology workforce.
